Difference is that no matter where BLG place, securing playoffs in a group that many thought they would be eliminated in is already an achievement. If they progress further, that is just a bonus.
Yeah I appreciate the conversation. Have a good one.
I agree with you. At the end of the day we all watch Valorant for entertainment. I think this issue mostly just stems from a cultural difference in terms of how people react to negativity in general. People will have their different views and it's fair enough to believe what you want. But me personally, I just find that the fanbases manage to cause more harm than the players.
For whoever is still in school, have you guys started yet?
I don't care about the pros shit talking, I'm just stating my opinion on the community's response, how does it live rent free in my head?
Boostio and Demon1 trash talking will obviously not please everyone as some people just don't want to see negativity when it can be avoided. In the original post I was just saying that people should expect that when someone is trash talking, there will be people who support you and people who don't which is the whole purpose of trash talking.
I 100% agree with you that theres obviously worst things that happen in the world in comparison to some random guy who plays video games shit talking each other. But imo the excuse that "there's worst things in the world" is just dumb. Just cause theres worst things happening doesn't mean being disrespectful or rather negative is just suddenly supposed to be socially accepted by everyone.
You're probably right, but imo I don't think it helps to tweet out 3 bait tweets shit talking them and then doing it in a post match conference as well.
Yeah I 100% agree with you. But the thing is that the Chinese players didn't do anything to provoke this "trash talking" and haven't done anything to influence the audiences and fanbases. The Chinese fanbase has been solely reacting based on Demon1 and Boostio's Tweets. Both fanbases have definitely crossed the line in terms of just being disrespectful.
I'm not saying it's the players fault but when you go trash talk someone, you should know that you are influencing or provoking the braindead people to do stuff like that
Shit is crazy, people just being straight up racist in the Twitter comments
Everyone who says someone is soft for not liking straight shit talk out of the game is braindamaged. Disliking someone for shit talking someone else isn't being soft, it's just a person who doesn't thrive off online negativity for entertainment. If someone calls someone else a disappointment and their entire region trash (outside the game) they should expect people to not like them which I think Boostio and Demon1 probably know. But 90% of their fanbases don't and try to cover being straight up disrespectful with "healthy trash talk"
(I think shit talking is good in game but if you go out of your way to attack someone outside the game then it's just being disrespectful)
Thoughts?
I mean isn't that the point of shit talking? to make people dislike you to create more hype for the game and to bring it more supporters who will cheer you on
The only problem that arose from this type of trash talking online is that it directs the chronically online people to go hate on the player getting trash talked. And it happens both ways so it ends up just being the cringe part of the fanbases shit talking the players involved
I think trash talk is fine until it becomes personal or just straight up racism, sexism etc. but it's a little cringe to bait tweet 3 times after the match is over and only targeting KangKang just makes it seem like kicking someone when they're already down. thoughts?
yo these death threats are getting wild masters shanghai gonna be interesting
regional matchups are gonna be so boring who is even watching
half the people that hate on the trash talk think they hate each other irl or smth
like trash talk is chill until you go after individuals outside the game
The people that think this trash talk is bad is so funny. It's not like they shit talk each other irl its just a game guys

Most likely. Hopefully they're close though for our entertainment
This tournament has been great and the matches have all been interesting. Wholesome moments as well as the shit talking made champs so far so much better than last year. Hopefully the playoffs bracket can maintain the energy. Would've loved to see a live draw for the playoffs matches but at least we got Loud vs Fnatic & EDG vs EG. Thoughts?
Not too confident about these maps considering they performed quite poorly on them in the recent matches. Feel like Giants might take this 2-0.
You're probably right, surprised the betting odds are higher for Giants when they looked better
I doubt it, have a feeling this game will be closer than people think.
I doubt 100t will drop Cryo after his recent performances and signing a player who hasn't had the best season recently.
Very nervous for both. Seems like we might not get a single team into playoffs which will cause a lot of hate on the whole "china 3 slots" thing.
Giants 2-1 EDG
NRG 2-0 BLG
Giants genuinely looked better on most of the maps compared to EDG during the first match unfortunately. Have a feeling they will take the win over EDG in the rematch when they're more prepared.
NRG should win the rematch against BLG unless they throw again. Would love to see BLG win though after what Ardis said in the interview. Haven't seen a lot of the maps from BLG but during CN qualifiers they looked quite shaky.
Sad to see that the Liquid roster was good on paper but just couldn't play good with each other.
Honestly, OXG Verno would be a great upgrade. Not sure if he is old enough to play by the 2024 season though. However, Nadeshot did say they would sign younger talent in the future.
I think Giants have a very high chance to take the win on Sunday considering both teams looked very shaky the first time around and EDG was only saved by a Nobody masterclass performance. Neither of them are bad but definitely don't look like contenders to win the tournament.
Majority of players in the esports scene, especially Valorant are definitely being paid too much. I'm not saying that the organizations should take that pay away from them but it only provides the incentive that they have the money to sustain these salaries. Many orgs are already becoming unprofitable because of how much money they burn.
However, we can't make up a solid argument saying that Loud is scummy for not giving Aspas a raise since we don't know how much money was being requested for. It does make sense though since he is 100% their best and most known player.
EDG are only overrated by bandwagoners. The real people who supported them know that they are likely a team who can reach a top 8 spot with a chance that they might make a run. People who say that they are bad are just dumb
Are they using the same format or are they going to randomize the bracket like they did for groups?
This is like what 90% of people on vlr, reddit, and twitter unironically think
I would hope so otherwise 75% of the people who use this website are braindamaged
Most teams in the tournament have similarly skilled mechanics and in these types of games it just depends on consistency and if you have a good or bad day as well as team preparation. The amount of people who overreact on websites like this or similar (reddit & twitter) is insane and it is as if their entire thought process is based on one singular game. It's like everyone prays to see someone not succeed or something.
This game was so much more entertaining than watching a team play the meta. It just feels way faster and more content
They supposedly scrimmed recently even after the Champions groups were announced.
now you hide behind an asian team LMFAOOOOO
Not even copium but I legitimately think that FPX have a chance against T1 considering how they both played recently in the opening matches. Thoughts?
Yes of course international experience is important when coming into a big tournament like this. Hopefully a lot more people will understand that these Chinese teams in the future wont be a huge waste of a tournament slot.
I feel like a lot of Chinese teams with the exception of EDG in some of their rounds have a lack of team coordination and seem to rely heavily on solo performances to win out rounds. BLG and FPX don't have completely awful aim and most of their players are good individually but don't have the strategies to outplay many teams.
Are Fnatic just way better or are NRG just not good currently because the games against BLG have been very interesting.
Yes ofc. Who is playing Valorant for a living and not denying 200 mil annually. That money is more than they'll likely make in their lifetime no matter how inflated salaries are
loud and edg going out of groups together why you hatin
Why does everyone react like a team sucks after 5 rounds on the first map of the tournament. This game is essentially RNG for every team except Fnatic who are a tier above the rest.
