I feel you man. One day I saw a tiktok on JP tiktok, it said "top 5 reasons to not live in Japan! number 5, coin locker babies!" in that npc ass tiktok voice. Coin locker babies is an incident from 1970s.... they're saying that's a reason why people shouldn't move to Japan. I was genuinely flabbergasted.
It mostly happens to East Asian countries because both Korea and Japan have massive soft power, but there's a language barrier preventing a large (dumbass) population from learning about those two countries. They get their information from other tweets/tiktoks and spread it to their dumbass friends, suddenly it becomes a fact.
