I already said that it's not spam and it definitely serves a purpose. This is literally the standard procedure of when someone gets slandered on SNS. I assure you that the legal team of DRX will definitely appreciate the volume of reports being sent. This is not counter productive when DRX themselves are asking people to report these guys. Everyone does this when a popular idol gets slandered on SNS. There are three reasons for this:

1. By a large number of people reporting it is shown that the general public's sentiment is for the slanderer's to be punished. This reaffirms the legal action that will be taken by the company.
2. In case the legal team misses a few tweets among the hundreds of tweets being made every minute.
3. To choose who to punish and make an example out of since not all of them can be punished.

Power trip? DRX themselves are asking for help. Slander happens way often than you think. Career-ending slander like this should never be tolerated under any circumstances. Upon reading the accusations, the tweeters should have maintained neutrality instead of calling him a criminal, which is by definition, slander.

"Innocent until proven guilty" is a thing that could have easily worked, but can't because of the terrible law enforcement in both Korea and Japan. Because of the borderline insane defamation laws, victims can't even properly speak up, which inclines the general public to side with the victim. But that also leads to some people abusing that privilege for their personal vendetta.

TLDR; the root cause of the problem is the terrible criminal law system and the lazy law enforcement/judiciary. Again, both Japan and Korea have notoriously bad judiciary and both countries follow the "guilty until proven innocent" stance, which should not be allowed in any country ever.
