I think originally they recruited him for controller IGL, but I assume they wanted one of the core 3 to igl considering they are there for the long run

So the whole reason 100T got invited was because the core three (hiko, ethan, and asuna) were still with the team. Would they have to forfeit their group position if they were invited to skip the qualifier and then invite a new member in while not earning the spot with the original core.

I totally agree, in addition, Nitr0 said he had to micromanage a lot with this team, and it seems like BabyJ, while a good player, is another player that needs to be micromanaged. I don't believe ec1s is used to micromanaging because EU is so disciplined while NA feeds off of individual content plays.
