refer to #9/#10

posted 2 months ago

refer to #9, yes, I was very unclear why I was replying and I kinda sounded condescending unintentionally

posted 2 months ago

yes, i did. I was assuming that ryandr was mentioning east asian as a generalization with the assumption that china has a different crowd culture. personally thought that was VERY obvious considering VCT has had an entire masters in Shanghai, as well as an entire region held there for their own franchise league.

in hindsight, could've phrased my intentions better, my fault

posted 2 months ago

despite how much haters you have, this is a W analysis

appreciate it

posted 2 months ago

korean entertainment was my go-to source, but definitely having korean parents in an American environment definitely bolstered my fluency tenfold :p

posted 2 months ago

not true, china ≠ korea, just bc they're both east asian doesn't mean crowd culture is similar

china tends to have more of a "roaring crowd" type culture (well, in comparison to JP/KR), while korea is still very reserved (though japan is the most reserved), because koreans believed that it was decent etiquette the let performers (in this case esports players) focus until a few years ago. i would guess that Korean crowd culture would be more westernized in a few years.

posted 2 months ago

that's sick my man, hope you can achieve some degree of fluency, Korean is a beautiful language

posted 2 months ago

close enough! are you a korean american?

반갑습니다 would be the correct spelling, but yeah how you spelled is kinda how I pronounce it when im kinda talking casual :)

posted 2 months ago

nice to meet you :)

posted 2 months ago

partially expected just an "allat," so this was a pleasant surprise

yeah, FNS definitely sold, but I remember it being so tense when yay tried to wallbang Rb with his headhunter shots, its really what solidified Rb's clip.

posted 2 months ago

no glaze considering I'm a devote DRX fan, but I still objectively think that Rb's spraydown in garage was better (at an analytical perspective)

clip 1 (TH RieNs 3k) was insane, can vouch; however, its your typical VCT superplay and can be paralleled with other spraydowns. special but not one of a kind. to add, when you look in 0.25x (or not), you can see that when he gets the kill on f0rsakeN (raze), mindfreak (viper) was busy trying to get a kill on site (wasn't looking at RieNs at all), and d4v4i (skye) wasn't able to trade despite his positioning due to being omen flashed. kill #2 was on mindfreak (who RieNs initial whiffed on and later had to resort to a f0rsakeN who practically ran into his crosshair, huge points docked), followed by a kill #3 on a d4v4i who nearsighted by Boo's (omen) paranoia moments prior.

clip 2 (GIA Fit1nho 4k) was slightly more impressive than clip 1-- but again, I still don't think it exceeds the difficulty/uniqueness of Rb's transfer. yes, a 4k spray is insane, but there are way too many asterisks that are present that invalidate his as a highly-skilled play. first, there is all the information he needs to know that he is being swarmed (including Haodong (astra) getting a 2k on rhyme (breach) and nukkye (cypher) on ropes up onwards and util + footsteps from ZmjjKK (raze) and Smoggy (jett) from CT to heaven alerting Fit1nho of everything he needs to know, and their exact positioning.) of course, this doesn't discount the fact that this was a MENTAL play, huge respect. slight aura loss (?) from the fact that he got killed by Haodong toward the end by a classic to deny the ace (which doesn't even account for how from Haodong's POV, you can see him whiff on the trade 2 or 3 times before managing the kill), as well as the fact that this wasn't necessarily a full spraydown, as from kill 1 to kill 2, the spray was reset, and the chaining kills 2, 3, and 4 have slight stoppage in spraying. (for technicality not a spraydown but its whatever, close enough)

clip 3 (mindfreak 4k) was impressive (true spray, except for kill 1), but I would heavily assume that without his whole team fighting on A rubble assisting those kills, mindfreak wouldn't have been able to spraydown those last three kills. in fact, I really want to commend Jinggg (raze) for standing his ground, buying time, and d4v4i (skye) for his util. add the fact that DRX was on a greatly broken buy (also consider that in mindfreak's LoS, only stax (fade) was staring at him, and he had a stinger and only light shields against mindfreak's vandal and full shields, which mindfreak body shot him with. though, kills 3 and 4 were definitely much more credible, with a double vandal spray headshot on Foxy9 (kj) and BeYN (omen). definitely trails behind maybe only his 1v3 tap hs on pearl towards A Link to A Site against a then overpowered EG. still, due to the circumstances he got those kills in, it definitively wouldn't beat Rb's spray.

in comparison, Rb had the least HP, had crashies (fade) AND victor (phx) hard holding the angle he peeked from (link to garage) WHILE holding a high-low hold. additionally, both were headshots, were legitimate spraydowns, plus the fact that the kill transfer speed was by far the fastest, almost instantaneous, which makes it necessarily an "one of a kind" type spray. admittedly, kills 3 and 4 were NOT part of the spray, and because FNS sold hard by not accounting for AA (angle adv.) LOL. still, my case holds, as Rb also took the first two kills' duels alone (with fade/Zest on the ready to trade), and a sheer COINCIDENCE that he was left with 1 HP, all the more dramatic.

holy yap, got carried away because I was excited to see all four of these clips again. made me appreciate the scene more. :)

i get the feeling of feeling insulted from being heavily criticized even when you put in hard work; its tough, but you gotta realize that this isn't a broken clock is right twice a day type of thing. t1 coaches are giving insights in your replies section, and there's a reason behind collective criticism.

perhaps you need a change of perspective, I truly understand how it feels when someone's holed up and with the amount of dedication, you spend more time in your own echo chamber and at the end, it becomes extremely hard to accept anyone else's critique.

no one is criticizing your hard work--thats seen with however many pages you want to flatter us with. its just that you asked for criticism for your quality, so you're getting the criticism for your quality. again, no criticism for your quantity.

you are more experienced with valorant analysis than Ill ever be, but as someone whos been scrutinized for my past research papers, I couldn't help but to feel a parallel. just understand that there are people with more experience, and that its okay to be wrong.

PRX fans are valid, it's just that they have so many "fans" that only support PRX because of their "W playstyle" or meme-y personalities that people label the entire fanbase as annoying... (also including bandwagoners that hop on for the glory, like 80% of the SEN fanbase)

posted 2 months ago

kind of agree, genuinely hate his timeout usage and lack of protocols for when things go haywire

posted 2 months ago

im ngl, they kinda do tbh, its just that baiting is seen as a bad thing--when executed properly, like aspas or leo does, it becomes a useful tool

Kr1stal is an uncommon but decent pick, he's not fully proven in the vct t1 environment though, so it would be hard to put him.
Primmie is questionable when you have t3xture and buzz being at similar levels for longer, forsaken whos peaks on duelist rivals them even as a designated flex, jinggg if we don't count his shit 2024 he had, not to mention up-and-coming duelists like meiy who are vying for the spot alongside primmie.

overall solid picks, just too hasty to judge. time and time again we've seen hyped up talent be mid or unfortunately dropped from the t1 strata of VCT

posted 2 months ago

can't judge for gmb, wasn't actively watching in '21. but yes, if we go by general opinion, most certainly

posted 2 months ago

Would be hard, considering there's VISA issues, financial issues, player conflict issues, etc...

Would love to see it happen though...

posted 2 months ago

wholeheartedly agree.

teams like ex-FPX, OPTC, SEN '21, DRX '22, EG '23 have shown promise, but nothing rivals LOUD '22 except maybe FNC and PRX if they have two more years of longevity.

thanks for the info, much appreciated!

At 31, he will be the third-oldest player in the VCT, behind FiNESSE of NRG Esports and ANGE1 of Natus Vincere.

cmiiw, but isn't this incorrect because JessieVash is an active player?

ANGE1 (age 35)
JessieVash (age 34)
FNS (age 32)
Lsn (age 31)

if you know the korean translator (fluent in both English and Korean) her name is jenn lee

posted 3 months ago

ofc yeah, which was why drx last saw success in set-plays during lock//in and got slammed by a proper counter-exec team like LEV 23

I'm saying from a visible "teamwork" perspective and giving examples, not necessarily saying that set plays are key to winning nor saying that they're viable in the meta.

posted 3 months ago

they'll need time, time, and more time. individually they have potential but they still need to prove that they can mesh together like drx 22 did (e.g. fracture set plays that drx 2022 did with breach and brim or the ascent jett dash + kayo flash are good examples)

posted 3 months ago

i agree

but its also undeniable that its because its tenz (most prominent valorant player, face of val esports as a whole)'s gf (kyedae, who also has an impressive following) that everyone is blowing this out of proportion. they just don't seem to realize that overspeculating and getting into verbal dogfights will only exacerbate the situation and upscale the drama, whether or not it's these people's goal to.

posted 3 months ago

both sides are partially in the wrong, the degree of which they are wrong is subjective and fans taking it too seriously (like this thread) might be unnecessary

in the long run this is completely irrelevant drama, no one will care in a month

posted 3 months ago

at the same time, you gotta realize that yoman has been a hardworking player and he takes the game seriously.

he's a paid pro, carries the game with a firm attitude, and acknowledges that crazy comebacks, do in fact, exist.

better safe than sorry. don't know why you have such a hate boner for merely this but whatever flows your boat

depends on what type of team you want to create.

primmie is suited better for a team that can support him with dynamic util well so he can frag
flashback is suited better for a team that can play off his defensive util so he can frag

cope is correct, admittedly, but what???
how are you saying "for years" when you registered your VLR account like 5 months ago? LOL
not to mention we genuinely had multiple deep runs (5th-6th curse until champs 22, 3rd in champs 22, 3rd-4th in lock//in, 5th-6th again), so there's a reason to why drx cope has "plagued this site"

if you want to talk about real plaguing, its the baiters and the NA/EU (most notably SEN flairs in 22-23).

please don't tell me that you hopped on the GENG train right after they won stuff, or else you might be a prime bandwagoner LOL

posted 4 months ago

the real question is why do you have such a hate boner for DRX, along with many of your past posts?

my friend, they might be in your head atp... consider reflecting

the same could be said about LEV??? both of our highest international performances are at 3rd as well?

chobra is apac biased but especially rrq biased.

what is up with his unhealthy obsession with rrq?

posted 4 months ago

little late but this guy you replied to is likely fake flagging (whether to deceive or just because he likes/has background in spain)

from what I know, the question marks being thin and spaced are an indicator that he is either Chinese or Japanese. he also seems to be very triggered that EDG, a CN team lost to DFM, a historically bottom-feeder team. the way he speaks/strings words together resembles a Chinese style of speaking (just from my experience with several international Chinese exchange friends)

and most obviously, in his past messages, he also translates a Chinese team name for the event match.

hope this helped.

does this mean that you acknowledge that G2 would be lower than RBHG merchants C9, who you presume to be ranked 5th NA

I agree with you but I also agree with OPs post other than that singular point. its very much critical to expand the horizon of the non-male FPS, and moreso gaming community.

im assuming 3 bc catNmouse said sneaking into top 4 so it would be general consensus that, since you put prx at the fourth slot, and catNmouse said sneaking into (or 4th, in that sense), order would denote placement with the exception of the "getting grouped" category
