I am trying to find out the best players by role (Duelist ,Controller ,Initiator and Sentinel) in VCT Stage-1 for EMEA, Americas and Pacific. While doing so, I thought of finding the best flex players across the leagues, but I couldn't arrive at a proper definition of a Flex player. Initially, I thought to consider players who have played atleast two roles, but that would even make johnqt a flex player. Need suggestions on how to properly define a Flex player.

Not a lot of people play 5 different agents so I think 3 minimum is fair

viper is much closer to sentinel than controller, the senti role is "viper/senti" not just senti most of the time, 2 roles is enough in most usecases

Yeah, it is fair to include viper along with the other sentinels. Also, may I know your approach in judging the players, like did you consider the VLR ratings, or created a custom scoring scheme?

no, do not use VLR rating, i used every stat listed from acs to First deaths(not CL% or HS%), my own opinions/ eye test, and factored in results(both regular season and playoffs) into the list

I see, I thought VLR Rating already considers all the given factors. I used a combination of VLR Ratings, along with the number of matches played and rated the players accordingly.

Flex is whoever’s playing the flash characters right? So players like heat, Ethan, etc. It would be different from the Sova/Fade players who would be classed as initiator.

traditionally, flex was the person who switched roles depending on if the map was double controller/double initiator/double duelist (but less so double duelist) while the other 4 ppl stayed the same

Flex is just filling whatever role is lacking in a composition

Not about role....but a good strategic & strong player in terms of aim and game sense seems to be Leo

if a map needs a second smokes, the flex will play it
if a map needs a second ini, the flex will play it and so on
the term is still very vague in some cases
