Ingredients:
2 cups sushi rice
2 cups water
3 tablespoons sushi vinegar
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
Nori seaweed sheets
Assorted sushi fillings (e.g. sliced avocado, cucumber, crab meat, cooked shrimp, smoked salmon)
Instructions:
Rinse the sushi rice in cold water until the water runs clear.
In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cover. Simmer for 20 minutes or until the water is absorbed.
In a small saucepan, combine the sushi vinegar, sugar, and salt. Heat over low heat, stirring until the sugar and salt are dissolved.
Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a large mixing bowl. Add the sushi vinegar mixture and stir until well combined.
Cut the nori seaweed sheets into small rectangles.
Take a small amount of the sushi rice and spread it onto the nori sheet, leaving a small border around the edges.
Add your desired sushi fillings on top of the rice.
Roll the nori sheet tightly into a cylinder, using a little bit of water to seal the edges.
Use a sharp knife to slice the sushi roll into bite-sized pieces.
Repeat with the remaining ingredients until all of the sushi is made.
Enjoy your homemade sushi!
