Can a Japanese org for example pick up edg as they are all the same region or does it not work that way.

I think so they have to minimum pick 3 players from Asia

well yes ofc but is there any rule about playing players from the region the org is from

the Org will be from 'Asia' the subregions will go away after franchising for tier1 valo imo
so that leaves you with Asia EMEA and America as 3 regions thats all

then why is everyone so worried about the regions the orgs are from?

most don't know the rules well and also the tendency to pick their local talent too
for example if some Indo orgs gets into franchising then that team has a very high chance they will get domestic players only
but on the contrary if GlobalEsports gets a franchising slot they will import players from all over Asia

we don't know how it will work next year but riot have ensured representation of all regions, but I don't know, for example, if Falcons were to get partnered that they would bring MENA players to the league. So it could be player majority dependant or just org dependant

i guess it's a yes. this franchise league is a whole region not only subregion. so i think they could sign any player from any asian country without any limit like previous rules. so yes they can sign the whole edg. they even manage have a line up from 5 different asian country.
