Female rosters getting complacent.

The number of female rosters that only play the game changers is astounding.

The Game changers should not be the end goal. It is meant to bridge the gap between pros and the marginalized pros. But rosters treating it as an end game will never make it anywhere.

apart from the top 1 or 2 like c9w are to be blunt, just worse then immortal 5 stacks. there is no point for any of them to try to play vct opens unless they are c9w

Well, VCT registration is open for everyone so female teams should try to play in non- GC events just to improve as the main aim of GC events is to make the female scene equal to the rest of the scene.

That's the point. No matter their skill level, there is no downside towards playing these open quals. That the only way they can improve.

I think these guys just taking the whole GC for granted. Instead of using it as a platform to improve, they are just focused on generating clout.

precisely because of what you said in the op, they are looking at it as if they're playing in their league and they wanna focus on being the best at that, rather than getting enough experience and improvement there to jump out towards vct challengers and shit

Yeah. Also we dont know if the GC will be held every year. Riot might just drop it some year if they see no returns?

I doubt it tho anything could happen.
I feel that although teams are on the misconception that the GC is a league of their own and it stops at there Riot is well aware that it also brings a playerbase to their game that benefits the company.
So I would see Riot cancelling GC if what you said happens, and 2nd if there are no numbers showing that is attracting a big chunk of a playerbase to their game.

What do you base this on exactly? Here in EU all the GC teams compete in VRL and try to get into VCT. They also play other significant third-party tournaments such as the Average Jonas Cups, all in addition to female-only tournaments.

Also, all the female teams I know try to scrim the best teams they can -- male or female.

The competition in the EU scene within the GC teams is great to watch and the players and orgs have high ambitions , unlike the teams in NA which unfortunately seem content with allowing the monopoly of C9W to continue

Teams here in APAC just do not show up to open quals. But yes, i have seen G2 and Guild participate in the VRL open quals last season.
