Theories of Dinosaur Extinction
I don't even know where to start with this class. From the very beginning, I've been suss of this prof but didn't think there was any way possible he could be this bad. He gives us audio lectures from like 2018 and he writes things on the board we can't even see since it's an audio lecture, his eclass is unorganized, we have no textbook, just a bunch of random articles he finds on the internet and doesn't even teach us at all, he just tells us to highlight the whole article and expects us to memorize everything. The first test was already horrible, I swear half the information on the test was stuff he never talked about or was super obscure information from the enormous amounts of articles he expects us to remember. Even then, I tried staying optimistic and was like maybe I can do well on the essay since those are usually mark boosters. Guess I was wrong again, he took a month to mark our essays and our class average was a 55 for the essays. I sent him a long email about how it was almost impossible to write a good essay with the constraints we had. It was an 800 word essay and at first I thought that would be light but I realized that it's so hard to provide solid evidence on your points when you have such a tight word count. Each of my paragraphs has like 6 sentences max because I barely had enough words to write anything. When he first posted it to eclass he said he gave everyone a 5% boost and I was like oh shoot maybe he really is nice but then i realized he gave everyone a boost because our class average was 55. Then the final, it was just as horrible as the first test, horribly worded true or false questions. It was literally true or false and I was struggling to figure out what he was asking cause he worded them horribly. His short answer questions he asked us to do I swear he never even brought up with us before. He had a word document of things we needed to know and I literally had notes on all the topics and readings he said would be tested. When it came to the test I was scratching my head because there were some questions he's never talked about at all. And look, I'm not tryna boast here, but I'd like to think I'm not an idiot, I'm a 2nd year Kine student and I've had some very difficult classes like anatomy and physiology but I'm still pulling through with 80's in all my classes except for this general education NATS course that I thought was gonna be light. Like I'm taking Kine 2495 athletic injuries and that class is so tough, but i wrote a 3 page literature review and got an 88 on it but got a 71 on my dinosaur essay like I really don't think this is a me problem and that this class is just not designed for people to succeed. This class was absolutely ridiculous this year and I hope some people on this reddit are taking this class and can relate because I've been nothing but disappointed with how this class has been organized, how the prof teaches, and the ridiculously challenging tests.
