Analysis
Ascent:
The top controller picked on Ascent was Omen with a 50% Pickrate on the map. Omen is strong on this map due to his long smoke range and versatility. The maps layout benefits his util usage with his Shrouded step and Paranoia. In comparison, Astra dominated Ascent like many other maps, boasting a 100% pickrate on the map in the last BoomTV Proving Grounds.
Bind
Bind is for Brimstone, Brimstone has proved to be a very strong pick on Bind even pre-astra nerf. He was very prevelant in the EMEA region, having a 25% on Bind during December's 2021 Valorant Champions but now thanks to his buff he has a 100% pick rate on the map. As one of the smaller maps, Brimstones smaller smoke radius has less of an impact on his mobility. As the map is plagarised with small ratty places like U-Haul or Hookah Brimstones ult is very easy to clear out and capitalise on any campers!
Breeze
Much like before patch 4.04 we are seeing lots of viper on Breeze, as her wall can cut off long site lines on attack and block site entrances on defence. VIper is a good pick as she is a great B anchor since it has a very small choke and she can take mid control very well. Some teams like(d) to pair Viper with a friend (mostly astra) on this map. In the 4 instances we have seen it only 1/8 teams have played a second controller, Project X opted to pick up a Brimstone!
Fracture
Another double controller map... Before Patch 4.04 a couple teams opted to run Brimstone over Astra, most well known in NA being Luminosity. Now, in our two visits to Fracture we have seen all 4 teams play Brimstone and Moon racoons chose to bring in Viper. Brim is strong on this map as his ult can find a lot of impact on both sites and he can overload the other team using his speedy stim upon entry.
Haven
This large map sees Omen back on top. This map in particular favours Omen because of it's size, this element eradicates Brimstone as his radius is detrimental because he can't smoke chokes fast enough. Omen is a strong pick to play in places like garage or C site because of his utilities' value. This maps size boosts brimstone because it gives his ult a wider impact as his ult can be otherwise hard to find impact.
Icebox
Like breeze this map has barely seen a shift in agent selections. Viper is very dominant on this map with an 88% pickrate. As the only map to see any changes, the changes that were made didn't affect viper's efficiency in the tundra. We see her so much on this map as her kit effectively blocks anysite players on B and any rotaters on a. Her molly is also very effective at pushing players out of corners on A site and B main.
Split
Brimstone is the #1 pick on this map with a 50%. I think what is very interesting though is that this is the only map where Astra is able to rival other controllers. It is possible that this is only because of the limited sample size (2/4 Played Brim, 2/4 Played Omen or Astra respectively). Personally, it is uprising to me that Omen isn't picked more on split as he was even played on the map before the buff, most recently by both G2 and Acend during their match on Saturday.
Conclusion
From my findings, I think that for the most part Astra was replaced by Omen or Brim depending on the map. 'Viper's maps' remains the most consistent as Viper is still very dominant on them. Viper in general has probably seen the last change besides a little bit less play as a secondary controller.
