4.04 Controller Meta - Agent Analysis
All data is taken from BoomTV Proving Grounds Qualifier. Data might not be fully accurate as the sample size is quite small, Only 57 maps played (RO32 + RO16).
Agent Pickrate and Function:
#1 Omen: 38% Pickrate Overall
Omen's top maps include: Ascent (50%) and Haven (56%)
His role has stayed the same as pre-astra, his long smoke range and aggressive kit helps him become an aggro-controller. As mentioned his smoke range is a middle ground between Brim and Astra which is why he is popular on larger maps such as Haven.
#2 Brimstone: 37% Pickrate Overall
Brim's top maps include: Bind (100%), Fracture (100%) and Split (50%)
Brim is tried and true on the maps he is picked with an 100% pickrate on 2 of the maps, he is one of only 5 agents who have 100% pickrates on at least 2 maps. His ability to play postplat with his molotov and ultimate is something that he is capable of that Omen isn't.
#3 Viper: 28% Pickrate Overall
Viper's top maps include: Breeze (88%) and Icebox (72%)
Viper is a special case due to her ability to be picked as a secondary controller and fill the sentinel shoes. These maps are Split (50%) and Bind (70%). Viper is probably the agent who has seen the least change due to the meta 'shift' and is still picked similarly to the patches before.
#4 Astra: 10% Pickrate Overall
The ex-queen of the controllers has fallen far from her throne. Astra is no longer the prominent pick on any map. She has only been played on 4 of 7 maps, those being Split (25%), Haven (14%), Ascent (13%) and Bind (10%). Which although the map pool is only a slight deviance, fracture isn't in her map pool but has only been played twice. Her main issue is her low pickrate on the maps she's been good on. In comparison, in the last BoomTV Proving Grounds swiss stage Astra's pickrate was 67% overall. 100% on 3 maps, 97% on one, 50% and 42% on the other two and 0% on Icebox. Brim and Omen both had a below 1% pickrate overall.
