- BR/LATAM 4 Champions slots
- EU/TR/CIS/Middle E./N. Africa 3 Champions slots
Could anybody calmly explain this to me?
Is it because they want more viewers from that specific region? Is it because they think EMEA scene is shit compared to BR/LATAM?
Bo0mShell [#6]Nah, let's attack APAC getting 6 slots counting KR and JP with SEA cuz that's easier than arguing with BR community.
Although i'm from APAC
6 slot is too much bro
5 slots is okay
no need 2 lcq north & south, just make 1 lcq slot

nah mate APAC community is happy with its 6 slots you can try for NA tho
Pemetro [#10]Last year was the same, BR/LATAM 4 slots, and EMEA 3 slots + 1 from masters 2
but why tho :(
ValdemieGC [#13]but why tho :(
Problem isn't SA having 4 slots but why 12 teams? why champions 16? They should increase to 24.
OzyMeister [#12]nah mate APAC community is happy with its 6 slots you can try for NA tho
I'm from APAC and no, the slot distribution is clearly horrible. 5 slots is okay, EMEA should have more slots
FlickMaster [#14]Problem isn't SA having 4 slots but why 12 teams? why champions 16? They should increase to 24.
yeah the more the better but I still fail to understand why are they giving EMEA fewer spots, to be honest
No hate towards brazil/latam

So 2 lcq slots ok for SA and not APAC?
The best fix I can think of is 3 slots EMEA and 1 slot SA lcq

it doesnt work like sure EMEA is the best region but even if you give them 6 slots then we will see all EMEA teams on top in champs again like last year and the game slowly becomes like CsGo where weaker regions have no chance to grow their scene for example look at Exceeli from Bangladesh rn they are trying to play catchup even in South Asian Valo scene and Indian teams are way better than rest of South Asian teams but that doesn't mean India gets 4 slots in VCC and other regions get barely anything

the best slot distribution:
if it's 16 slots:
NA 2 + 1
BR LATAM 2 + 1
EMEA & MENA 3 +1
KR 1
SEA 2
JP 1
APAC lcq (All asian) 1
MASTER 2 invited 1

that's not the good excuse to reduce the slot
the point is u give them chances & 5 SLOT IS VERY OKAY (im from APAC region btw)
by reducing EMEA slot, it's just making all things become bad & horrible (competitive side, viewership, fairness, etc)
Unsicklaupedy [#21]probably the highest competition this year will be in the emea league
Agree lol
EMEA groups and playoffs will be insane and ultra competed

you're from APAC right? arguing for a single APAC LCQ right? please explain to me how TE from Pakistan 3rd best team from South Asia(as per VCC 2021) play a fair game for their chance at Champs against lets say a Japanese or Korean team

the best way for SA region is
SEA + SA in every slot master & champs
but don't include OCE to us, it's too much
so, for example SA teams can get their chanceto fight at 2 slot SEA (become SEA + SA), & fight at APAC LCQ (all countries in Asian)
what do you think
yungbasel [#24]The answer is simple. I don't know why everyone is so fucking confused.
VIEWERSHIP > COMPETITIVENESS as far as riot is concerned.
Also, they didn't take a slot away from EMEA. EMEA were given 3 last year. We just had 4 at champs because The masters 3 winner automatically qualified.
we are not confused lol
everyone knows this is about viewership
we just think it is not fair to weight the spots ONLY by viewership
and we are making sure this message gets to RIOT, because people rightfuly think it is unfair, and if they don't do anything to help the situation, they'll have to endure the possible consequences this decision might bring to the table for them

its already like that but its still not fair Asia is a huge continent Af/Pk teams can NEVER play jp/kr teams NEVER EVER its just not possible so single APAC slot makes no sense whatsoever APAC S and APAC N is still somewhat okay

I agree with you. I guess what I'm saying is. I fully expected this and I'm surprised that people are surprised.

yeah, pissed but not totally surprised honestly
OzyMeister [#27]its already like that but its still not fair Asia is a huge continent Af/Pk teams can NEVER play jp/kr teams NEVER EVER its just not possible so single APAC slot makes no sense whatsoever APAC S and APAC N is still somewhat okay
what do you mean af/pk teams can't play jp or kr? like in terms of ping or like skill diff?
IMO:
Brazil and SA in general don't deserve 3 slots BUT in my opinion instead of taking slots from regions why not increase the number of teams at the tournament? it would increase the competitive and give us a better show and opportunity to players from most region to show up not just the main regions would be benefited
FlickMaster [#5]redemption from sabotage BR scene last year
Kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
Origin [#3]this must be a troll is there an official tweet out other than liquidpedia
It's on the official val website

Exaclty, that's the point. Why they didn't increase the slots, why only 12 teams? Wtf is that man
Origin [#3]this must be a troll is there an official tweet out other than liquidpedia
wtf did they do to the uk flag 💀
Xerx [#36]Riot doesn't want any region to have more then 3 spots
That's a "valid" (but still debatable, though) argument I guess
But their definition of a region and how they determine what a region is, is shit, to be quite honest
What I'm trying to say is: why is BR a region, why LATAM, why JP, why KR for example, but why isn't CIS a region, or TR a region, or MENA a region. You get me?
alice_ [#42]its 1 slot for latam, 1 for br, and a kinda "lcq" where its br vs latam for the 3rd south america spot so its not br/latam 4 slots, only 3
i think he’s about champions

Cis and TR should be different regions for sure and have direct slots and that probably gonna happen in 2023, with Masters and Champions having more slots. I think that Riot didnt gave them slots in 2022 cuz they can scrim against Eu teams and improve without need to go to international events, If regions like BR and Latam didnt recive direct slots they would fall far behind competitively, cuz they cant scrim with european teams from their homes like Cis and TR does
ItsMeDio [#19]the best slot distribution:

Agreed. Just feels sad for OCE. Never got a chance to play and now they get only one slot and that one team has to fight against SEA to be top 2 with no international experience
