vct storytelling has fallen off which is a major reason why so many of us dont feel the same hype for matches as we did in 2021, 2022 and 2023, the last 2 years it feels to me like there is little to no narrative surrounding teams, players and each event feels more empty than the last. storytelling is a major of component of making any esport or sport interesting and is also the reason why the ufc for example is falling off.

yeah but there aren't any big rivalries that have managed to survive the test of time

bring me back to the days of el classico

feel like last year's storytelling was fine. had a bunch of rivalries cooking like sen vs geng, geng vs th, jingg coming back to prx mid season, and a crazy run to end the year.

this year, stax and buzz finally get a trophy, prx redemption, and etc.

imo its fine but i get why it feels lackluster just cuz there is a nostalgic feeling around the older rivalries and stories

val is really random and full of ups and downs so it's hard for anyone or any team to have too much emphasis

i miss loud x optic

riot keeps changing the meta abruptly and then it's just a race on who can adapt first, which makes it way harder for story lines to develop because the top teams are frequently changing

the small number of games per year also doesn't help, take a player like crashies who's doing great right now yet if fnatic didn't give him a chance he'd be stuck in tier 2 or retired. players get dropped if they perform badly over a small number of games

Open quals just way more fun than franchise
