Hi, so I'm posting here since when I sold my pc 1 month ago I was having huge issues with fps with an even stronger card my old pc was an i7 9700k + 3070 with 2666mhz ram + some random Asus motherboard, and struggled to get 240fps stable. Since that, I red I will need a better GPU but I'm really not wanting to go towards amd since I prefer intel. What I'm asking is will I get finally get 240 stable fps with my new build aka i5 11600k + 3060ti or I will need to buy an amd cpu. Also here are the other components( ram: trident z 3600mhz cl16, motherboard: MSI MPG Z490 Gaming Plus, ssd: Samsung 980 PRO 500GB M.2 PCIe )

Thanks for all the answers have a good day!

get amd, it has better multithreaded processing and more and more games are shifting to it, also windows 11 has special optimization for multi threaded processes, i get around 200fps with a 2060 and ryzen 7 4800H

I think the only problem with your old build was prolly the 2666Mhz ram but now it should be good with 3600Mhz. And even tho 11600k is a beast cpu but for valorant, AMD cpu seems to outperform Intel somehow so if you can go for AMD, I will prefer 5600x or 5800x but it seems fine with 11600k nonetheless.

thank for the answer, if i'd go with the amd cpu would MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk be a good choice as motherboard, would the 3600mhz ram be enough cuz i heard amd's support a lot more mhz ram than intel?

wait what..? You sold your old pc with those specs because you had fps issues? Obviously its not about the specs, gpu or cpu atleast. Could be RAM like this one guy said, but obviously the problem wasnt your gpu or cpu, if you had "huge issues with fps", of course the problem is something else than ur main specs. Unless you sold it for other reasons idk.

nah hahah i had fps issues but didnt sell cuz that, but my irl issues solved faster than i thought so i could buy back my pc, but tought if i will buy a pc again i will make sure to have good products from every component and not just buy a good cpu, gpu and cheap out on everything else

You don't even need to go for a b550 mobo. A b450 like Asrock B450 steel legend is more than good enough. And a 5600X with a decent GPU will be enough for 240FPS.

Yes, MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk will be perfect or you can go for Asus b550 f gaming and 3600Mhz will be more than enough as of now. But be sure to go for dual channel ram (8×2) rather than a single channel (16×1).

Edit : and definitely don't go for b450 steel legend suggested by the other guy as it doesn't support 3600Mhz ram and it's much less recent. If you want to save money you can go for Msi b550 A pro for the least.

Just get a 5600x + 3060ti, anything abo be a 5600x is overkill for just gaming as you really won’t benefit from anything above 6 cores on valorant. A 5600x will also easily get you 240fps

Bro, selling that excellent i7 9700k that can be overcklocked to 5.2ghz or on average 5.0ghz stable was probably a mistake imho....
On my rig:

  • Intel(R) Core (TM) i7-9700K-3.60GHz(5.0GHz-OC)
  • Asus ROG MAXIMUS XI GENE
  • EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 GAMING ICX
  • G.Skill Trident Z Royal DDR4-3200 C14 (OC-4133) 2x8GB
  • ASUS ROG XG258Q FHD/TN 240Hz
  • All watercooled with EK Water Blocks - very important for OC
  • Windows 11 - similar numbers were on Win10 but in static only up to 630fps

In the range, I get roughly 700fps in static, 460-90fps when shooting bots, and 340-90fps during active battles in mm.

https://i.imgur.com/mAXmRGJ.jpg

Overclocking your processor is the key in attaining high fps in Valorant, and it's the same for CS. Though the GPU will help, the processor is still the most important improvement in terms of fps in such games. However, since you've already gotten yourself a new rig, I'd suggest you checking out some optimization guides. It will help a lot to get your fps stable. Good Luck

Get psu either 750 or 850... don't worry much if it's not gold etc... some headroom needed... Also stay on win10 for a while as AMD is a bit off on win11 for now. Also if you haven't bought RAM yet, go with some g.skill instead as they are sams b-die and typically work better on AMD rigs - or any other b-die as Patriot Viper Steel or similar .

Yeah, I've used the BE Quiet DRP 4 in the past and it's somewhat bulky... On a couple of gigabyte aorus x570 boards, I've tested the same 2x8 trident golds that I presently own... the solution was to put the ram in 1b-2b slots to make them work with the black rock. I was unable to put the dark rock at all LUL on a mini version of the Aorus x570. If you're certain the ram won't fit, the hyperX is the way to go then. I don't believe it will degrade your in-game performance.... it has been shown in my and others' tests over the past two years that the non-b-die on AMD will result in a little less snappier windows experience. You could always buy the Patriots or other type of b-die instead if the measurements is similar to hyperX'. Or if you're going with 2x8gb, you could always configure them as 1b-2b to accommodate that hefty dark rock in there. One thing though the 750-850 psu would do you good as 650 is pretty tight.
