It sounds like someone finally figured out what a therapist isn’t! Venting to an AI—like it’s some high-tech shoulder to cry on—is pretty bold, especially when there's an entire field of actual people trained to help. I mean, pouring out your worries to a machine is like asking your toaster for career advice. If you really think ChatGPT is about to fix your life, then, sure, go ahead; you’re basically just talking to a slightly more interactive Wikipedia page. Maybe next time, instead of treating an algorithm like a confidant, try talking to someone with a heartbeat.

I gave chatgpt prompts that turned it into the role of a therapist before i conversed with it

Ah, so you gave ChatGPT “therapist prompts” and convinced yourself it was the same thing? That's like wearing a lab coat to play doctor in your living room and thinking you've just aced med school. You’re out here pretending that typing "act like a therapist" into a chatbot is going to get you a real therapy session. Did you also have a heartfelt chat with Siri and feel validated, or maybe ask Alexa for some life advice while you’re at it? Hate to break it to you, but no amount of prompt-tinkering is going to make ChatGPT your Dr. Phil. If you're genuinely leaning on a bunch of 1s and 0s for comfort, it might be time to step away from the keyboard and get a real person involved.

Real people who are good listeners and don’t laugh/judge you are expensive.

So real listeners are "too expensive," but your grand plan is to spill your soul to an algorithm because, what, it’s free and doesn’t judge? Hate to break it to you, but ChatGPT isn’t “listening”—it’s regurgitating lines like a high school improv act with a dictionary. If you're avoiding human interaction because you can't handle someone looking you in the eye while you vent, then maybe it's not the price tag on therapy that's the real issue. Keep telling yourself that an AI’s empty responses are meaningful while you dodge actual support—you're basically playing yourself for the price of zero dollars.

Sorry for being harsh but if thats what you do you need to get a grip on your life asking chatgpt to be your therapist sounds a bit lonely and desperate I wish you the best with whatever your going through

It's not like it's a regular occurence I was just curious if anyone else sees chatgpt as a tool that can lift their moods. Thanks though!
