If i wasnt mistaken there was an Evil Geniuses reserve back in the day, I was suddenly reminded of them because of some EDG interviews (They have a reserve team as well) and a boostio? interview I think.
I really hope more teams do that where they have a reserve team because Boostio said that the reserves also review vods and scrim with the main team. Im not sure whether if riot lets them to play in challengers or not but if riot do reserve teams can acc gain more tier 1 experiences from the main roster also providing some info for the main roster. it is like a win win. Even though it costs more money if the reserve wins ascension they can just lend them out to a team like G2 which grants them tons of money imo. And EG is the perfect team for that where u got a coach like potter that is good at finding young talents.
And im almost certain that G2 even considered picking up icy just because he was on EG in 2022 (Even tho he didnt play for them)

They can't play ascension because they are considered part of the main team. On EG last year all 10 players were on the team. The reserve just made up the 5 who didn't play, and they participated in internal scrims. No franchising team would do this because they would have to pay even the reserve at least league minimum. It's one of the main reasons why EG is now dirt fucking poor.
