Nah he ain't lying. I don't wanna sound like on of those Andrew Tate dudes but girls give the worst advice on how to attract them. I think it's because they try to be nice about it instead of honest.
The few times I have been successful with girls (actual hook-ups, not just pointless chatting) was when I did my own thing and didn't try to do the things they say they like. But that could just be my experience, maybe for other guys it's different.
