they can ban hardware pretty easily, it's been done in other games. Also, if this is still true info from TenZ, they take your gear and hold it until you play for stage matches. For example, if you have a Sora V2 you hand it over to Riot and before season/tournament starts and when your matches begin they give it to you before you head out on stage and plug everything in. iirc they check everything to make sure you aren't using any cheats injected via hardware.

Optimum said it wouldnt affect val that much since you don’t really gain that big of an advantage counterstrafing in val

Probably because cs's movement is much faster than valorant's

You stop much faster/almost an instant in val so you can just let go of the key instead of counterstrafing
