Thought on players’ ability to take hate?

Players should be able to take (or ignore) all forms of comments bar personal threats, even though it might not be constructive. It’s part of the job. It’s like signing up as a soldier, the contract doesn’t say you’ll be treated like shit by your superiors, but it’s well expected. If a player can’t take the hate, then the career might not be suitable for them.

As a spectator, I want to be able to call a player a noob without having to worry about their mental health. And it’s the players’ job to not be soft. That’s part of what makes esports and sports in general fun and entertaining. I’m not here to babysit the players, I’m here to enjoy myself.

The majority of hate comments are not constructive criticism, there are a lot of comments that are death threats, or making fun of their appearance, etc

The majority of the hate is not, in fact, death threats.

I been on vlr since like 2021 and never seen a death threat. Maybe that happens on twitter but idk.

Making fun of appearance does go too far sometimes on here ngl

I’m not really talking about vlr, I doubt most pro players really care about vlr messages about them, twitter and insta messages are what I’m referring to

its part of any professional (e)sports job to keep in check mentally with regards to people making fun of them online but theres also a limit to the jokes like making comments on forums is fine and stuff but to nonstop harass people in their twitter replies or instagram dms is where it becomes weird imo

Yes personal harassment in the dms is just weird behaviour.

Yea definitely it would be perfect if there is no toxicity whatsoever in our world. But that’s impossible in reality. It’s not all sunshine and rainbows. Humans just aren't built that way.

Not everyone is the same , they handle things differently... just like how you wanna talk shit someone if they're not performing and others would just move on and hope for the better

And it’s the players’ job to be able to ignore or take these comments, if not they might not be suitable for this career.
