Did RA threw ascension purposely ???

There is a rumor that the Rare Atom players threw their ascension spot to get partnered with JDG.
Even if they did win ascension they will only get 2 years max in partnered league, therefore throwing those matches is a good move.

Any thoughts or knowledge on this?
