it does show how teams can adapt and improve on mistakes in a short amount of time, so, it accurately shows how good the coaching staff is and the coaching staff is part of the team. About the playoffs, you just made my point, you shouldn't only look at groups, but also at playoffs, bigger sample size, more accurate results
