This award is gonna be a bit different than how the normal ones will go, I already have the 6 nominees:
C0M
Coming into this year C0M might have been the lowest-rated player in Americas. Basically, no one thought he deserved his spot, and at the beginning, he played into that. He started off the year pretty bad both at LOCK//IN and VCT Americas. But after EG got 13-0d by LOUD EG and C0M especially seriously stepped it up. Many people would consider him the best Sova itw now.
Klaus
Klaus had a really bad start to the year, KRU went 0-9 throughout the regular season and Klaus was the 3rd lowest-rated player in VCT Americas. But when LCQ came around he seriously stepped it up putting himself 7th highest in Americas LCQ
Carpe
Carpe's first-ever Valorant official was at the Ludwig x Tarik Invitational and he played terribly, he looked completely lost when he was playing. So going into LOCK//In and VCT Pacfic everyone's expectations were really low. But he didn't do terribly at LOCK//IN like people were expecting, in fact, some might have even said he was the best on his team. Every game Carpe played he got better and better until he pushed T1, who was rated really lowly coming into the year, to the 3rd best team in Pacific getting them a spot at Champs and Tokyo, at those events he did way better than anyone would have expected coming into this year.
D4V41
This one is pretty self-explanatory, A lot of people rated D4V41 as the worst player on PRX but he had an incredible year. Champions and during the VCT Pacfic playoffs were when he especially shined.
Qw1
If you didn't pay close attention to the Turkish scene coming into this year you likely didn't know who Qw1 was, but he had a surprisingly solid year. Qw1 and FUT both exceeded expectations, no one thought they would be 3rd in EMEA and yet they pulled it off
Fit1nho
Much like Qw1 if you didn't follow the Spanish scene you probably didn't know who Fit1nho was. As the Giants franchise player expectations for him weren't very high, and frankly at the beginning of the year he met those low expectations. He wasn't performing poorly but he certainly wasn't having amazing games. But when LCQ came out Fit1nho seriously upped his game and brought Giants to Champions where he continued to perform at a very high level
