Hot take: there are no good esports formats, both open and franchise systems have same issue
- Franchise systems struggle due to the need for stability making the necessity of an open tier 2 circuit make no sense for tier 2 orgs to invest when they can gamble on another game they can build a bigger brand in than being a tier 2 team.
- Open circuits are just money pits for orgs that provide no stability, they are financially unstable to a point where it's just a ticking clock until all but the tier 1 orgs can afford to stay and then the cycle of no tier 2 orgs continues.
