With the performance of the 3 international leagues both surpassing and failing to meet Riot’s expectations, head of esports John Riot has announced some changes *o the EMEA League.
“We just didn’t find it very competitive,” he told a Dexerto spokesperson December after FNATIC won VALORANT Champions Los Angeles. “We needed something new.”
Riot has announced it will be removing 9 EMEA teams from franchising to support FNATIC. “In order to better reflect our brand image, we’ll be renaming VCT EMEA. It will be called VCT FNATIC.”
The three international leagues are now VCT AMERICAS, VCT FNATIC, AND VCT PACIFIC. VCT FNATIC hosts meet and greets in the Berlin Stadium instead of playing any teams. “It’s just better for my health this way,” said FNATIC player Chronicle.
