Cuz maybe Gekko isn't allowed in vct Pacific? Idk , but Pacific teams tend to not shift metas it is only NA and EU team who generally does that if any team wanna play Gekko first one would be either DRX or PRX

In Pacific only team which create such strats are like DRX , PRX , TLN , even prx strats are just very aggro teams dont really use them :)
