planning to buy a new pc in a few months and im on a budget so im debating on going for an i5-10400f with a mid range gpu like a 1660 super or should i get an i3-10100f with a more powerful gpu. idk if the i3 would cause bottlenecking with a 30 series gpu so thats why im looking for some help.

UrCringe [#4]I got a 12th gen i3 paired with a 2060 (you could even go 2060ti) and there barely any bottleneck, if you're on a budget, it's a good pair, if you can spend a bit more, then go for it
There is larger difference between 10th gen and 12th gen because of new nanometer technology

mainly for games like valorant but im thinking of playing warzone or apex and maybe in the future some AAA games

Well yeah, if he is not changing motherboard which is why both of his options are 10th gen, then yes, you're right, maybe a 1660 super could be a good option
