Map Control

I always see how pro players take their time when pushing and control the whole map to analyze the situation. My question is, how important is Map Control in Ranked games and should you always try to achieve controlling the map whenever possible OR you should just smeag and rush altogether to a site?

My current rank is Platinum so it might be low enough for things like that but I'm really curious as to when and how you should use it.

it's a really hard thing to pull off with randoms but it can be really useful. The best thing to do is to take map control and wait for people to push while gathering information. THEN, based on the info you can embrace the smeag

Play by this rule: nothing for free. If the enemy takes a large portion of map control, try to take control of another portion of the map lest they take it for free.
