I'm guessing you guys get a lot of these, I'm just trying to ask for overall tips on how to play better when I'm switching over from counterstrike. I was FACEIT level 8-9, ESEA B+, 2.5k hours on CS with some LAN EXP, IM exp, etc. I'm switching to VALORANT and I just want to know overall tips and what I should do to get back to competing at a high level. My aim is sharp and I, of course, understand the basic concepts of everything, just want to know the things that will take my game to the next level. I have been playing some scrims at the diamond-imm level and usually 2-3rd fragging while playing duelist/omen. I feel like I need to learn the maps better and adjust to the crosshair plaecment and preaims in this game better. Also just positioning and timings. I feel most of these things come with experience and playing, but is there anything else I should do? Anything I might be missing?

Run and gun - very important, if you're close with a rifle always run and gun

Never hold angles - never stay stationary on an angle, always move because peekers advantage in this game is off the roof, the guy sees you a second earlier if he is peeking, you won't even see him stop moving before your head is shot

yes it does. In CSGO even at a 1 meter distance run and gun is impossible. Vandal is pretty accurate as far as 3 meters. Phantom even more. People lose crucial kills in this game by playing like cs. I'm not saying run and gun in mid ascent. But definitely run and gun more than in CSGO (in csgo you never run and gun with rifles)

As for the never hold angles part, show me ONE pro in ANY game that just HOLDS an angle crouched instead of constantly ADADing. I'll wait.

if u want to learn when to use abilities pick a certain agent and learn them for a week. watch a vod of some high tier player play them in a match and look at how they are using abilities.

Buy Skins

Aside from that, use your abilities and combine it with your gunplay, that's a key to winning

Yeah, like Munchy stated earlier, play each agent for a while. Only when you play the agent for the while, and learn the mechanics of each agents utility and their common plays (e.g. typical cypher set ups, sova darts, omen flashes, common raze nades, etc.) can you effectively counter each respective agent and predict plays.

Obviously being aware of your teammates and communicating team plays is huge (not just on offense, but also on defence - for example, shoulder peeking and baiting for a teammate who is holding a tight angle as the opposition rushes in). So many people play ranked individually which really hurts their potential.

And then, try not to be too static (like always moving a bit) which will help counter peekers advantage. There are some instances where you might want to be static though (like if you're holding a tight angle and the current in game circumstances will cause the opponent to likely not clear you).

Hope this helps :) If you have more questions, just post them and I'd be happy to try and help answer them.

thank you man, ill def keep these in mind. I feel very confident on reyna/phoenix, im working on omen/sage right now and have been watching some pro demos/vods. Ive been watching the sentinels and faze players since they are quite good. I also need to work on my aim, in CS i was more of a sprayer and it doesnt work out in valorant. Ive been dming a lot to fix this
