I have been thinking of possible comps for my team and really liked the idea of comps with no duelists or no sentinels. And the thought of possible controller-less comps spiked my interest. There is of course multiple problems with the obvious lack of sight denial, but could it ever work in a competitive setting?

I thought of maybe Icebox. Since you can kinda walk into A for free most of the time.

A site could work but B site would be a nightmare for holding post plants
Also any kind of retakes are 10X harder without smokes
And you can totally forget about going mid

B postplant might actually work sometimes I guess if you have the aim of BR and TR players. Just aiming in that direction and popping heads even before they have a chance

viper is nice on defense, but sage/kj/chamber also work fine as anchors and stall

The idea is you use jett + cypher as aggresive smoke when you need one in attack side
And in defense you have 3 sentinel to compromise the lack of controller. But this comp is really weak if you have enemy using kayo

Yeah I don’t think viper is a must have for defense either, she is usually there just cause she is the only controller who can smoke the B site.

I think I would rather have another duelist instead of chamber. Depending on the map, either raze or neon.
Its possible but most likely a very overcomplicated approach to the game. Really, what does removing a dedicated controller accomplish?
For example, you now (probobly) need a Jett AND a cypher to accomplish just a single controller role. AND those two need to stay alive and can't lurk. Yeah, lurking. Viper is probobly the best lurker in the game. You lose that just to play cypher with the team instead. On top of that, Controllers have a lot of site taking utility - Astra suck and Concuss, Viper molly, Brim molly and stimmy, Omen's decent blind and TP's for entry help.
TL ; DR - Triple controller is more viable than no controller.

It is nice to have fs, but does it actually have that much of an impact? Since post plant on icebox usually boils down to throwing util on spike and hitting your shot.

A team in APAC actually pulled the triple controller or Bind, really interesting to watch. I just don’t remember which team did it. But yeah def agree that it is prob not worth it kek
