So sitting on a chair or lying down in bed all day doesn't change your physical situation at all in the short term from the action of lying down or sitting down all day. That turns into something if, let's say you get paid for lying down all day, so that directly provides benefit, but still, unless the actual specific action of lying down all day makes you money, you are still doing nothing because you could be using your time doing something else that directly impact you in the short term other than lying down in bed all day. If that makes sense.

theres this really cool animated hbo max original series that came on netflix in my country called scavengers reign. I won't spoil too much but it fits both your sci fi and suspense criteria. it is super cool and quite entertaining, and the world building is really well done in this show. its only 12 episodes so not too long. I highly recommend it.
