I work weekends at a gold mine. I'm a lab tech so its mostly manual labour and some brain stuff. I started at 18 and trained in the workplace. A fair few people come from uni degrees in Science. I'd absolutely recommend mine work as a temporary thing, but long term it isn't really worth it. The money I make now is a huge amount compared to most over 22 year old uni engineering students (mainly due to weekend penalty rates 1.5 pay on saturday double pay on sundays). But long term it's not really enough money or compelling enough work to sustain a long career.

TLDR: Mining Lab Tech
if its a temp job while studying 10/10 pays great with very little time commitment

as a career 4/10 wouldn't be able to sustain a single income house long term and the works pretty boring and reasonably labor intensive, could probably fuck your back after 5 years if your not careful

I mean it seems kind of obvious, cNed doesn't have the presence in comms ardiis did that challenged Angel to put his crack pipe down and play the game and NRG is to to restrictive and locked down a system under FNS for ardiis to actually play his style. Seems like a no brainer to me.

FPS has kind of been a cultural thing in china for a while. 4 of the 20 Overwatch league franchises operate from China, one of a regular season MVP winner from China. Cross fire was huge within china and a reasonably experienced history win Counterstrike

Yeah, I aint a tac fps but its one of the biggest fps games going around and has pumped a tonne of cracked out players into val

I don't think you can really talk about the rise of FPS in china without talking about the huge influence Overwatch had in china

There is legit nothing wrong here, this is just a symptom of the map pool with breeze and icebox out the maps left are all rather small with really tight sections
judge is fine, anything works in ranked. Its ranked

Chinese orgs got proper names Billy and Edward none of this edgy DRX NRG PRX. Just good honest real names

because they practicing for champs, out here playing how ever many hours of scrims a day. probably don't want to burn out at/right before champs

Mang0 clears. Mans been winning since 07, man's got more accomplishments in some years than these blokes have in there careers. Still at the top of his game did it all while being a legend

Hot take: there are no good esports formats, both open and franchise systems have same issue

  • Franchise systems struggle due to the need for stability making the necessity of an open tier 2 circuit make no sense for tier 2 orgs to invest when they can gamble on another game they can build a bigger brand in than being a tier 2 team.
  • Open circuits are just money pits for orgs that provide no stability, they are financially unstable to a point where it's just a ticking clock until all but the tier 1 orgs can afford to stay and then the cycle of no tier 2 orgs continues.

I think it really would depend on how they win, if its dominant as fuck and no one stands a chance. I'd be impressed from a competition point of view but not particularly interested from a spectator perspective. If its a tough game like the lock-in finals with the ups and the downs and the tension and fnatic take a hard earned win then I'm probably hype for it and excited to see where the next challenge comes from and what rosters people are building going into 2024, as they say "if you aim for the king, you best not miss"

posted about 2 years ago

I mean history would say which ever region builds a super team next. So like maybe 2024 paper rex where they drop the gigabag for like monyett on smokes or something like that

I agree koalanoob doesn't have a spot no one really needs a new duelist other than sentinals but that's complicated. There is definitely teams who need a new IGL and johnqt is strait up the best free agent option to bring in a new IGL. Also aint no way C0M is getting dropped

Does fnatic have a big fanbase in japan, I know their Rainbow 6 team is Japanese but I don't know if they're popular there?

People going off when EU casters talk about the EU team

sliggy fits very well into analytic co-streams but casting wise I don't think it would be the easiest transition to being on the main broadcast. Co-streaming targets a very different demographic the main cast as a product has to be more general and approachable. It's a tool to create story lines bring excitement to games, make moments happen that mean something. It's almost incomparable the two.

Bonk go crazy 2-0

posted about 2 years ago

Nah the story lines work better if you run that upper bracket. You bring more hype from inter-regional games later in the bracket which matter more. Plus you get the runback story lines for the same region games e.g. rematch for the pacific grand final

It aint that deep, knowing a team played a single map in a scrim really aint major information

Kind of a shame for the map pick that Ardiis doesn't end up on jett until map 3

I'm be honest I'm just here for Chaos. Imagine the malding if the hope of NA lost to Mr Carpe Overwatch

posted about 2 years ago

Carpe spent a lot more time on a mixed roster aswell as playing in NA. Saya only really played on 1 mixed roster (the 2018 Swedish florida roster) but he did spend a lot of that time playing in NA. Plus his stint in NA val his had decent amount of time to pickup some pretty good English

Nah surely riot back them with cash to create bonkers incorporated the greatest esports org to grace Australia.

Shout out the other 2 blokes with the T1 pick, can't wait for my vote to age like either fine wine or milk

Lowkey though if bonkars did not get signed for ascension (which is very possible given that OCE has zero money) and they win Ascension (pipe dream but an OCE boy can dream) do they then have to enter franchising as Bonkers or can they then get signed by an org?

posted about 2 years ago

Given LCQ and Ascension run at the same time pretty much and Apeks is a top team for LCQ I couldn't imagine Keiko wanting to take a chance on LCQ over a high chance of getting a spot in 2024 EMEA with Apeks

posted about 2 years ago

I can't really see KC making a change, given it would likely involve putting in a new structure around a new IGL if Zeish moves back to assistant coach. Given they took time off between the end of Split and LCQ odds are the roster stays as it is.

As for teams that need players of the tier 2 pool, its very difficult to determine because teams playing in ascension aren't exactly likely to have players want to leave their assentation team who would be playing for a stop in EMEA anyway.

Heretics, are in need of an Initiator player which is a really space role if your not looking at Ascension teams. I'd say a really good option with tier 1 experience is probably Braveaf. Another could be like vicious. Its really hard to pick iniators out of EMEA that arn't on ascension teams.

It pains me to find an emergency player for vitality but I think (in the instance where they don't qualify) I think Hyber is the best choice. Has experience working with bone cold, has played on Lan. Seems like the best option, but also feels wrong to be talking about an emergency fill in so soon.

I know right, its a shame bonkers are going to have to send bleed, Japan and Korea home so early

or solid idea they sign some Latvian Brit to play duelist and its probably a roster that could win an international

bloke went off in those clutches

-Qualifying for masters also qualifies for champs
-No demon1 kind of ruins all progress they have made
-Sandbag masters Tokyo have fun with it get your players used to the big lan experience
-Champs in LA so no visa issues given all their players are in LA right now
-Early exit from Masters gives more prep time for champs and less effective tape to prep against going into champs

Well in line with your current taste, May I invite you into the cult of despair known as the Tifosi. You can always count on just a good enough attempt from Ferrari to bring your hopes up, a few shining moments then have it all come crashing back down. Seems like your kind of thing

I mean most of the player on jett can play the jett substitutes (e.g. Raze, Neon, Chamber when he was busted) and sage for times like jett free icebox and stuff. But most of the properly flexible jetts especially in apac have moved to supportive roles

posted about 2 years ago

Given the move to disguised would in theory mean a return to main jett I'm really interested to see how he translates to post jett dash re-work jett. Given chamber dominance over his run with Optic and their tendency to run chamber jett with victor on jett. There is very few game's we've seen Yay play post re-work jett (even though the change happened so long ago). This does actually have some relevance due the huge nerf to holding angles which was yay's exceptional talent on both chamber and pre-rework jett (see masters run at berlin for context). Might be interesting to see how he plays the newer more entry oriented jett. Should be good to watch
