The departure comes a few weeks after the team's brief run at Masters Toronto, during which they went 0-2 in the playoffs. Midi first joined Xi Lai at the beginning of June. He arrived following the unexpected departure of YOU , joining the squad just 11 days before it played its first match in Toronto.
As a team, Xi Lai communicated using a mix of English, a language Midi does not speak fluently. This appeared to take a toll on XLG's in-server play, as they bowed out of Toronto with a 0-2 record as China's first seed. They lost both matches in 2-0 fashion, facing a total round deficit of 29 rounds.
NoMan, who has competed for teams overseas, including Ireland, the United Kingdom, Spain, and other European squads, is expected to replace Midi. He has mostly been a Duelist player throughout his career, meaning a change to team compositions or an adaptation to a new role entirely could be on the cards.
After departing XLG, Midi's debut VCT season takes a turn. He joined

Midi is still a relatively new face to the Valorant scene. He joined Trace Esports midway through China Stage 1, entering the starting roster in favor of FengF . He competed with Trace through the end of Stage 1, China Evolution Series: Act 2, and at the Hero Esports Asian Champions League tournament. Midi mostly played Tejo across all outings for Trace, though he did play a few maps on Sova and Killjoy. In four maps for Xi Lai, he played three games as Breach and one as Gekko.
Before Trace, Midi's Valorant career was on pause for one and a half years. His last action came as a Duelist player in 2023 with Change The Game and PanDa.
With the championship points race in China still tight, Xi Lai Gaming will look to rebuild ahead of China Stage 2, with participation at the Esports World Cup just around the corner as well.
