Is rap the most overrated music genre ever?

I like rap, I genuinely do. But most of the trendy shit that comes out of it is just ppl saying they got bitches cars money etc. that shit is not enjoyable to listen...

I get that you can like the music the beat etc. but really if you tell me that (for example) carnival is a good song I must think you are braindead no?

"She rides my dick like a carnival" just stfu porn addict I don't care that much about your sexual experiences. And rap is a lot like that. Especially the shit that goes viral.

I'm not saying that rap can't be any good. As I said I like rap and I believe that if you want to make a good rap song, you can 100% can.

But I'm talking about the mainstream shit mainly. Always talking about sex drugs bitches and whatnot.

And still, even when talking about it, it doesn't mean that it is a shit song just bc of it. I think 50cents got some bangers related just to sex. But seeing all the mainstream shit like that is unbearable.

It's embarassing but my family was outside Italy when I was young and when we came back I didn't make any Italian speaking friends (I went to an international school) and eventually ended up not speaking it to my parents, which made my Italian super bad lol.

Spending the first few years of my life outside Italy really didn't help

I think it's like this for almost any genre. I think any mainstream music is mid, not cuz im tryna be contrarian or anything, but time and time again a genre has gotten big, with some originally rly unique artists spearheading the genre, only to be picked up by some massive music label and forcing the most shittiest collabs and making artists make music by quotas and killing any personality or innovation; making most mainstream music just bland and corporate sounding, and younger people (9-16 yr olds) will just eat it up cuz it sounds cool to them
